We are CARF accredited! CARF is the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and we are excited to have this important accreditation across our facilities. The mission of CARF is to promote quality, optimal outcomes and value of services through their accreditation process and continuous improvement services. They center on enhancing the lives of the persons served by the organizations they accredit.
CARF accreditation helps organizations meet the challenges they face in achieving quality outcomes for the people they serve. By gaining this accreditation we gain:
- The assurance of our clients that we have conformed with internationally accepted standards.
- Improved communication with our clients
- A commitment to person-focused standards that emphasize an integrated and individualized approach to services and outcomes.
- Accountability to funding sources, referral agencies, and the community.
- Evidence to federal, state, provincial, and local governments of commitment to quality of programs and services that receive government funding.
- Guidance for responsible management and professional growth of personnel.
- Support from CARF for training and education.

KLEAN’s accreditation process took about six months with a specific three-day on-site survey, where there was a thorough self-evaluation that applies the relevant CARF standards against the organization’s practices.
The accreditation process was led by COO Darryl Olivier, all facility directors, Director of Quality Assurance Lorrie Brinkerhoff, Program Director Allison Markus, and Project Coordinator Helene Vo. According to Helene Vo, there was lot of work that went into “developing the documents, processes, policy and procedures for our organization to establish standards that would conformed to CARF standards, but truly it was the continuous efforts of all staff to really demonstrate the embodiment of those standards throughout the organization.”
What does this mean for KLEAN?
It means that we have been recognized to offer high quality services that meet CARF standards, and it demonstrates our commitment to continuously improve service quality and to focus on the satisfaction of the persons served.
It was important for KLEAN to go through this process to indicate our commitment, not only to the CARF standards, but also to accountability and excellence in all areas of our organization.
Here are some quotes directly from the summary of the survey of our strengths by the CARF team:
“Persons served in the outpatient program believe they have received hope and encouragement as well as directed referrals and assignments to deal with issues such as finding sober housing, educational opportunities, guidance counselors, community support, and advocacy.”
“The KLEAN staff members are invested and truly passionate, as evidenced by their positive, respectful, and proactive attitudes and their thoughtfulness and creativity. They totally embrace the philosophy of meeting the persons served where they are in their recovery process.”
“KLEAN has developed and maintained a strong and stable reputation for providing high-quality, innovative, and caring treatment programs.”
“The persons served speak passionately of their experiences with staff, stating that they are always treated with respect and reporting that their lives have been significantly and positively impacted by the services received. Many persons served stated that KLEAN was simply the best program they have ever been involved with.”
We received the highest credentialing possible by CARF which is the three-year gold seal of approval. This achievement is an indication of KLEAN’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of lives of the persons served.
